HATING IN A WORLD OF DESIRE!

Action’s Urban Wild Art

Londra, 28 ottobre 2013, Old Street.

Press Release

HATING IN A WORLD OF DESIRE!
Action’s Urban Wild Art

28th October 2013, Old Street, London. AZ.NAMUSN.ART is back in action on St Jude’s Day, they are starting a new cycle of urban actions with high social impact: Ball(oons) Experience Series.

AZ.NAMUSNART, a Sardinian art collective, keeps dealing with economic, political and environmental issues in a new residential context.

AZ.NAMUSN.ART, climbed onto the roof of a building near the Old Street Station; where a huge beach ball has been displayed since April 2013; using ladders and scaffolding already set up on-site, at around 4:00am. Disguised as installation of public art, Morag Myerscough’s work, is basically an insidious Derwent London’ marketing operation. According to the company’s theory, the building under construction (15 floors for about 228,000 square feet, the value is around £200 million) is being built using a special thermal insulation and energy efficiency system, which should be able to reduce energy bills by 20% every year, thus reducing CO2’s emissions by the equivalent amount – 180 filled beach balls of the same size as the Land Marker on the roof of the building.

AZ.NAMUSN.ART, cut the anchor points and installed a GPS on the giant beach ball, in the hands of the hurricane. Through the use of the satellite, AZ.NAMUSNART is able to draw an arbitrary urban map exclusively assigned to the power of nature, which completes the process and the work in form of Action’s Urban Art Wild.

The title Hating in a World of Desire is a direct reference to the work Loving in a World of Desire by Damien Hirst formed by the beach ball floating in an airflow ejected by the sculpture’s base.

AZ.NAMUSN.ART emphasizes, ironically, how chaos is caused by devastating power of nature; they join together the idea of the creation of the work and the idea of the creation of the world and at the same time show up the vulnerability of new technologies which, even if created and operated by human beings, are not controllable. So the symbolic value of the “monument”, corrupted by these instruments of the real estate company, redeems itself through the re-appropriation made by weather events. Therefore the power of nature turns the objectivity of the work into an ephemeral allegory – with a strong ethical content which goes beyond aesthetic principles, flooding into reality.

Hating in a World of Desire is an anti- advertising work, an anti-advertising campaign aims to raise awareness about climate change and CO2 emissions. This work is also a monument memento dedicated to waste in the global economy. Despite a proclaimed interest in environmental issues, public opinion seems anesthetized with regards to the total number in shares of fossil fuel companies held on the London Stock Exchange. The value of those share are approximately £900,000,000,000!

AZ.NAMUSN.ART would like to thank all contributors who from early in the morning of 28/10/13, they posted images from video still of Hating in a World of Desire in the most popular social-networks, such as Twitter and Facebook.
